Having a little Greek blood in me, on my mother’s side, always makes me point my ears up when anything Greece related comes my way. The biggest example would be when Greece won the Euro back in 2004 and for a good few months I walked around telling the world how Greek I was ecstatic that finally everyone could see how powerful the Greeks were! So when Helen contacted me about her wedding and mentioned they were doing a traditional ceremony I was again extremely excited to be part of some of the Greek culture.
Julian and Helen had their ceremony and the very unique and beautiful St Nekatarios Church in Orange Grove. It is an intimate but very proud orthodox church with a distinct and colourful style of architecture with a stunningly crafted chandelier that hangs at the altar. A perfect setting for these two to start their lives together. After the ceremony was a short trip to the reception held at the historic Olive and Plates at the WITS club. We then visited the Great Hall at WITS as a back drop for the couple photos.
Julian and Helen were great hosts and their wedding will be talked about for a long time, not just because of the venues they used, the great food, the atmosphere, or the fact that in true Greek tradition there were smashed plates flying everywhere, but because of how much they mean to each other. When you see how Helen could hardly take her eyes off of her husband or how Julian was so excited to be immersed into her heritage, you realise how things should be.
I wish them the best of advertures and look forward to hearing more about them!
